That’s it - I am officially not reading anything else about Gaddafi’s death. The whole thing is absolutely sickening. I don’t care what atrocities he was responsible for. The people who captured, brutilised, humiliated and killed him also commited an atrocity.
Bad deeds are bad deeds. Inhuman behaviour is inhuman behaviour.

“More women directors will rein in excessive pay, says David Cameron”
Well, yes, because women still get paid much less for doing the same jobs.
Is it just me who thinks that the combined behaviour of Alan Joyce and the rest of the Qantas bigwigs is highly reminiscent of a toddler having a tantrum because it wasn’t allowed to have the larger size of ice cream?
I’ve never liked Qantas, but the hypocrisy of taking a 71% pay-rise while trying to move operations off-shore to “save money” (never mind the 8% increase in profit this year) is just too much to bear.
And we won’t even go into the ethical issues surrounding off-shoring operations so big business can make more profit by paying foreigners less.
Sure, Qantas. Destroy your brand and ruin your reputation so you can relocate to Asia. But once you get there, I think you’ll struggle to compete with all the professional, quality Asian airlines with fantastic customer service. And, yanno, planes that work.
1. Don’t put drugs in people’s drinks in order to control their behavior.
2. When you see someone walking by themselves, leave them alone!
3. If you pull over to help someone with car problems, remember not to assault them!
4. NEVER open an unlocked door or window uninvited.
5. If you are in an elevator and someone else gets in, DON’T ASSAULT THEM!
6. Remember, people go to laundry to do their laundry, do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room.
7. USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! If you are not able to stop yourself from assaulting people, ask a friend to stay with you while you are in public.
8. Always be honest with people! Don’t pretend to be a caring friend in order to gain the trust of someone you want to assault. Consider telling them you plan to assault them. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the other person may take that as a sign that you do not plan to rape them.
9. Don’t forget: you can’t have sex with someone unless they are awake!
10. Carry a whistle! If you are worried you might assault someone “on accident” you can hand it to the person you are with, so they can blow it if you do.
And, ALWAYS REMEMBER: if you didn’t ask permission and then respect the answer the first time, you are committing a crime- no matter how “into it” others appear to be.

As things stand, I shall never visit the following countries (again), except where required for air transit:
Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Antigua & Barbuda, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Bhutan, Botswana, Brunei, Burma, Burundi, Cameroon, Comoros, Cook Islands, Dominica, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guinea, Guyana, Iran, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Malaysia, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palau, Palestinian territories (Gaza), Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Somaliland, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Syria, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, UAE, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Western Sahara, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe
All of the above countries consider homosexual activity illegal. In the bolded countries, it can carry a death sentence. I refuse to visit or support any country that considers intimacy between two consenting adults of the same gender to be a crime. I’ll take my pink dollar elsewhere.
Equality cannot be measured in degrees. When our partners are unemployed, we are expected to support them. When they are sick or dying we are expected to pay for their treatment. In fact when it comes to all things financial, the Government expects same-sex couples to stand up and do their bit thanks to legislative changes brought in by Kevin Rudd.
I take no issue with being asked to pay my way. It is part of being in a loving relationship and part of being a model citizen.
But I will always resent the fact that while my money is good enough, my relationship is not considered worthy or formal recognition in the country I love.
